Minimal Quantity Lubrication Systems (MQL)

Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) systems are used in applications requiring an accurate delivery of small volumes of lubricant for applications including cutting tool cooling, press tool lubrication, chain lubrication and component assembly.

HES Lubemec supplies SKF LubriLean and VectoLub systems for these applications.

Both systems work on the same principle of supplying air and lubricant, via coaxial tubing to a nozzle which combines the two to form a fine air/oil mixture which projects to the point of application. The nozzle design eliminates misting by means of an air barrier created by the nozzle around the air/oil mixture ensuring accurate application.

The LubriLean system pressurises the lubricant in the reservoir with the air supply, whereas the VectoLub system dispenses the lubricant with a cyclically operated micro-pump. This is actuated by either a pneumatic or electrical pulse generator in the air line.

Systems can be supplied for a single point or multiple points depending on the application.

MQL systems can be used in various applications including:

Machining operations such as drilling, milling, turning, tapping, punching, stamping, cutting and drawing.
Conveyor lubrication in many industries including Automotive, food and beverage, process plant etc.
Component assembly in the automotive and aerospace industry.
